Part 2 of Rob's Interview With Alicia Malone from Cannes

First part of Rob's Malone Movie Minute interview from Cannes was posted here.

Rob's Rep Says He's Looking Foward To Supporting 'Cosmopolis'

ETA: According to Gossip Cop and eOnline, Rob's rep says "No confirmed engagements have been canceled"

From eOnline
A report earlier today claimed that Pattinson has ditched an unidentified press appearance for Cosmopolis.

However, his rep insists Pattinson hasn't canceled any of his commitments.

"Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting," the rep said in a statement. "No confirmed engagements have been canceled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate."

The studio apparently had tentatively scheduled a press junket in L.A. for the movie over the Aug. 10 weekend, but the plans have now been scrapped, according to a studio rep.

From Gossip Cop
Robert Pattinson “just cancelled an upcoming U.S. press appearance to promote his film Cosmopolis,” reports ETOnline.

According to the site, the movie star has backed out of the commitment because he “isn’t quite ready to face the media in the wake of girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal.”

Interestingly, ETOnline makes no mention of which appearance Pattinson supposedly backed out of or when it was supposed to take place.

But Gossip Cop has learned the claim is a complete FABRICATION.

A rep for the actor tells Gossip Cop, “Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting.

“No confirmed engagements have been canceled,” says the rep, adding, “Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.”

More Info on 'The Rover': Director and Producer Scouting Locations

The actor, who has a mass worldwide fan base thanks to The Twilight Saga films, will play a thief in the Outback in Animal Kingdom director David Michod’s futuristic western The Rover.

Guy Pearce has also been confirmed for the shoot, which will start in South Australia in late January next year.

Michod and producer Liz Watts scouted locations across SA, including the Flinders Ranges, earlier this month.

Flinders Ranges Mayor Peter Slattery said it would be a treat if Pattinson were in the region during the seven-week on-location shoot. Another two weeks will be shot at the Adelaide Studios.

“I daresay it would induce a bit of excitement in the area,” he said. “The spin-off effect is that the attention on them cross-promotes the area that we’re in. We certainly would be most enthused about him coming.”

Pattinson will have the choice of SA’s best Outback hospitality, from Wilpena Pound, luxury homestead Arkaba Station and Rawnsley Park Luxury Eco Villas to iconic tourist destination the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna.

The South Australian Film Corp has invested $450,000 in the project, which was approved in the latest round of Screen Australia funding.

The Rover’s overall funding budget is $12,250,000.

Get Your Bel Ami UK DVD and Blu Ray and the directors talk about Rob

The Bel Ami DVD and Blu Ray is already out in the UK. Did you get your copy yet?

HMV is selling an exclusive Bel Ami Blu-ray and DVD which contain footage of Rob at the Berlin film festival talking about the movie at the press junket as well as on the red carpet which no other discs in the UK contain.

You can buy it HERE. Or get the regular version from amazon UK: DVD | Blu Ray

To celebrate the release of the DVD we decided to do something different. Today, July 26th, at 7PM BST/2PM ET we had watch-a-long of Bel Ami on twitter (if you're not following us yet, do it now --> @RPLife) with exclusive comments from the directors (Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod) about the film, Rob, and a lot more.

But if you missed it, here's what the directors had to say about Rob and the movie. The answers of Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod from the watch-a- long.
In the scene where Georges attacks Virginie Rousset - how did Robert Pattinson and Kristin Scott Thomas prepare for this?
Kristin, Declan, Rob and Nick discussed quite extensively, Nick chose the positions for the kick etc but then it was improvised in the moment.

What was the most difficult scene to adapt from the book to the film?
This wasn’t our job you would need to ask the writer, Rachel!

What was the most challenging thing about shooting in Budapest?
We had to close down the main boulevard, but the weather was perfect

How did Rob and the cast deal with the nudity? Did they have any issues with it?
Nobody had any issue with it they were all very professional when it came to these scenes!

How would you describe each member of your cast in one word?
This question is far too difficult! They are each wonderful in their very different ways.

What scene took the longest to shoot and how long did it take?

The dinner scene took two days as this was a crucial scene and we wanted to get it right

What scenes from the book did you choose not to film and why?
There were many scenes as we wanted to focus on his relationship with the women.

Are there any scenes that you filmed but decided to cut?
No we stuck pretty close to the script as we were really happy with the end result

What was your favourite scene to film? Why did you enjoy shooting this scene more than any other?

The Moulin Rouge was great fun - we loved the dancing and it was a really great location

How was Robert on set with the actress who played Clotilde's daughter?
Robert was great and very relaxed in the scenes shot between the two characters

What did you find most appealing, personally, about that period in Paris? Did you do a lot of research to get the right tone?
It’s very rich and exciting time in Parisian history. We did as much research as we could to get the scenes as accurate to the history as possible

It seems like Georges is similar to modern day ‘celebrities’ who become famous despite having no particular talent –
Yes – Nick, I and Rob were all attracted to this character of the empty man, on to whom others can pin their fantasies. A man who feels he deserves everything, who is rotted by the modern cancer of entitlement.

The women seem to pull the shots at the beginning of the movie but end up betrayed by Georges – why is this?
He uses them to get on, but don’t forget that they use him too.

Jealousy seems to be a main theme between Georges and Madeleine - was this an emotion that Robert and Uma could easily relate to?
I think we all can, don’t you???? Show me someone that never gets jealous and I’ll show you a liar!!!

The newspaper industry in Paris seemed quite corrupt – do you think this draws comparisons to the newspaper industry at the moment?
Yes! It is about the newspapers in close and secret collaboration with the government. They had no mobile phones to tap in those days.

Do you think Georges genuinely loved any of the ladies in the film? Madame Morelle seemed to get very hurt by him...
If Georges wasn’t so in love with himself he would probably be in love with Clothilde.

Of all the pairings in the movie, what’s your favourite relationship in the film?
Georges has probably met his match in Suzanne. I don’t think she’ll give him an easy life!

How long did the movie take to film?
Just the shooting was two months but it was many months in preparation.

You’re respected theatre directors, was it hard making the transition from directing plays to a movie?
We were daunted but once we got going we loved it. By the end of the first afternoon we were addicted and now can’t wait to make another movie!!

Did you have any preconceptions before working with Robert based on the films he had been involved with before Bel Ami?
Only that he was a very good actor, we had no idea how much fun he was. He is great to be with.

What was Robert Pattinson like on set?
A delight and very hard working

Had you watched the Twilight films before working with Robert?
The first one and we absolutely loved it!

Did any of the female cast develop a crush on Robert during filming?
You better ask them!

Is there any interesting stories involving him and fans during the filming of Bel Ami?
We hardly saw any fans. Seriously!! Until the red carpet at Berlin!!

Would you work with Robert Pattinson again?
Absolutely, he was a true professional and a real gentleman

How did you deal with the paparazzi?
We didn’t see them all that much close to the set - they have very long lenses!

Do you have any fond memories from working with Robert?
Every day was a pleasure and we still keep in touch. I hope we will work together soon again.

Can you tell us something about Robert that we might not know?
He is very serious about his work and loves watching movies (other peoples!!) He is deeply articulate…

'The Rover' Gets Greenlight

Press release (Source/Via)

Screen Australia has announced almost $20 million investment in a diverse slate of feature films, adult television drama projects and children’s television series. The investment in 12 projects will trigger $100 million in production.

Rob Talks Cosmopolis, Cannes, Nude Scenes, His Dog And More With Interview Germany

Some quotes from this interview were posted in a few articles (like this one), but there are a lot of new questions.

ETA: Better translation thanks to @linhey :)

His fans were very excited when Robert Pattinson visited Berlin a few weeks ago. The actor wasn't here to promote his role of the vampire in "Twilight", but to present David Cronenberg's film adaptation of Don DeLillo's "Cosmopolis".
We spoke with the Englishman about his old and new roles and also about his best and worst moments of last year.

INTERVIEW: Mr. Pattinson, your hair has gotten longer again. You had your hair cut into a buzz cut back then. Was it for your role in "Cosmopolis" or "Bel Ami?"

ROB: Neither, it was for a movie in which I'm playing a soldier who found Sadam Hussein. The shoot was supposed to start in spring but it was postponed until fall.

INTERVIEW
: Your roles left the fantasy genre and have become more realistic, do you agree?

ROB: As an actor, you just have to be very lucky to get great roles and when I like one, I'll take the opportunity. If they do get more realistic, it's either a coincidence or it happens subconsciously.

INTERVIEW: In front of the "Kino International" here in Berlin - where "Comospolis" will premiere this evening - faithful fans have been camping out since yesterday. Do you think about the possibility of scaring them off with such roles [as yours in Comospolis]? Your fans might want to see the vampire Edward Cullen instead of Eric Packer, a billionaire with an identity crisis.

ROB: I don't think that is the case. Since I shot "Bel Ami" something peculiar happened: my fans gave me my favorite books as presents. Yesterday I was in Paris and at the premiere there was a queue of people who wanted to give me books! It's incredible, isn't it?

INTERVIEW:
Are you happy about the books? And do you really take them all with you?

ROB: Of course, there were really excellent books among them. Including one written by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

INTERVIEW: Do you hope that your fans will learn something from your film adaptations?

ROB: Even if only one person among hundreds was inspired to read the corresponding book and deals with it in greater depth, it would be wonderful. Cinema can be more than pure entertainment, at least sometimes.

INTERVIEW: Is that why you said you don't want to act in teen movies anymore? I read that.

ROB: Yes, I saw that too. Someone misunderstood me or wanted to misunderstand. Who says that "Cosmopolis" wasn't a teen movie? If there is a sex or violent scene in a movie it is automatically classified as a movie for adults, regardless of what the topic is about. Such categories are completely absurd. No, I would never really say something like that!

INTERVIEW: But "Cosmopolis" isn't really a movie for young teens, is it?

ROB: Well, I wasn't easily shocked even as a teenager. And to be honest: every teenager watches hardcore-porn nowadays and probably has seen more blatant things than the stuff in our movie.

INTERVIEW: Yes, that's true. That means parents have no reasons to be apprehensive of "Cosmopolis". All the "Twilight" fans can be sent to the cinema without hesitation!

ROB: Unless the parents have something against dialogues. If they think "Oh no, I don't want my kids to deal with so many words!" then they probably should be apprehensive of our movie!

INTERVIEW: Speaking of movie ratings: you are naked in every movie of yours.

ROB: Right? That's actually true.

INTERVIEW: How do you feel when you have to take off your clothes on set?

ROB: I'm British. I'm always more insecure than others. Everyone is always relaxed on set, even when they shoot a nude scene. I'm always terribly tensed and anxious.

INTERVIEW: And it doesn't get better?

ROB: When I trust the director and absolutely want the movie to end up great, it has gotten easier now. But if that's not the case I'll feel like a prostitute. (laughs)

INTERVIEW: You had an exciting year, what was your most amazing experience and what was the worst?

ROB: Well.. hm, there were many of both. I'd say the fact that our movie got accepted at Cannes is one of the most amazing ones. I'm very grateful for that. You know, I hoped to have a movie in competition there in maybe ten years but all of the sudden that exactly happens now. Absolutely unbelievable.

INTERVIEW: That means you didn't have a plan for your career that would directly lead you to Cannes?

ROB: You know what, ever since the first "Twilight" movie all the journalists asked me if I was afraid to only be cast for certain roles. And then the first movie I shot when I finished the Twilight Saga gets to be in competition at Cannes. That totally stunned me.

INTERVIEW: And what did you think of yourself in your first non-vampire role?

ROB: I love the movie. I think it's my best work. I've always felt uncomfortable watching myself on the big screen so far but in this case it was the total opposite.

INTERVIEW: What did you like most about your role?

ROB: This may sound a bit strange but I like how the words sound when you speak them out loud. The language, the sentences, how they are arranged - it's all beautiful.

INTERVIEW: Which sentence did you like most?

ROB: I thought "That's my peanuts you smell" was amazing. "I believe my sexual organ is retreating into my body right now" is also very great and absurd.

INTERVIEW: Now we spoke about your best moments, but which were the worst ones then?

ROB: My dog got sick, that was very sad (laughs). But really, it was terrible! He's feeling better now, though.

Mackenzie talks about meeting Rob and Kristen, BD-2 and Rob being funny :)

I’d really like to know what you learned about acting from the other cast members that you got to work with?
Mackenzie: Well, I learned the most by watching them because they would be themselves and then they would become the character that they become.

Is there one thing that you learned by watching one person in particular, that you took in and thought “I want to be able to do that”?
M: There’s some cool stunts that everyone did, there’s a couple of flips and I thought that was very cool.

Now, on the press conference you mentioned the swear jar… Who was the biggest offender?
M: Like I said, I don’t want anybody else to get in trouble! (laughs)

Is there anybody who didn’t have to put any quarters in the swear jar?
M: Um… Stephenie (Meyer), Taylor (Lautner), Noel (Fisher), Dr. Guri (Weinberg), and there were some other people like Miss Tracey (Heggins), Miss Judi (Shekoni). Most of the Cullen guys. They didn’t say any swear words. Oh! And Miss Ashley (Greene). She didn’t say any.

What was your first time meeting, Taylor, Kristen and Rob like?
M: Well I met Kristen and Rob in the hair and make up trailer, and I think the first time I met Taylor was… in the first scene actually.

Who was the biggest prankster on set? Or the biggest jokester?
M: Rob was pretty funny. He had some pretty funny jokes.

He made you laugh a lot?
M: Yes. And Mr. Guri, he was really funny too.

Toni Trucks, 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Co-Star, Says Rob and Kristen are "Cool as a cucumber"

Kristen Stewart is very easy on the eyes.

"Kristen is porcelain—and magnetic," Breaking Dawn: Part 2 actress Toni Trucks said at last night's premiere of her new movie, Ruby Sparks. "I even found myself on set with her and all of a sudden I'd be like, 'Why am I staring at Kristen right now?'"

And K.Stew, 22, and her beau Robert Pattinson, 26, couldn't have been nicer.

"They're great," said Trucks, 31. "Kristen was always lovely to me and really laid back and Rob was so joyful and cool. They're both wonderful, cool as a cucumber. I don't think anyone can really judge people too harshly when you have all eyes on you at all times."
